Super Evaaaa!

This past weekend, Eva and I went to a birthday party for one of her friends that turned 5. Her friend is a superhero fan, to say the least, so that was the theme. It was so cute. Her mom sewed superhero capes and made masks for all of the kids. I cannot tell you how cute the kids were running around with the capes and masks on. Of course, I had to reveal my own little superhero J

APRIL Photo-A-Day (Part 3)

I really enjoyed getting photos for this month. Some of the days made me think. The next few months are going to be very busy, so I'm going to be taking a break. I may pick it back up again in July, maybe August. But for now, enjoy these last 10 days of April....I did J

21. BOTTLE
My favorite wine - Riesling!

22. THE LAST THING YOU BOUGHT
I got this from Hallmark. It's so cute. It's a gift for Eva's gymnastics teacher.

23. VEGETABLE
The vegetables in my grocery store look this great every time I go there.

24. SOMETHING YOU'RE GRATEFUL FOR
Groceries.......and all that receiving groceries entails:
Having the freedom to about my day, go into a grocery store without being harassed, having thousands of items to choose from at my own leisure, encountering courteous cashiers at checkout and being able to pay for all my groceries with cash!!

25. LOOKING DOWN
This was taken from the second floor of our home. My husband was finally able to get the grass cut on a nice day.

26. BLACK + WHITE
This was taken my freshman year in college. We were going to a fraternity/sorority stepshow. I don't know if we all planned to wear black & white or not. *I hope they don't come after me for posting this pic J*

27. SOMEWHERE YOU WENT
A somewhat impromptu wedding. My stepdaughter just got married today.

28. 1PM
At this exact time, I had my little one sitting on the potty before she laid down for her nap. However, just a couple of minutes later, this is what my cutie pie looked like! Yes, that's mama's bed she's laying in J

29. CIRCLE
While in Ethiopia last year, we got these cool coasters. You should be able to see the elephant.

30. SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU SAD
Not knowing this special lady. This is my maternal grandmother. Eva was named after her. She died when I was around 6 or 7 years ago, so I don't have any memories of her. I miss not having that special bond that a granddaughter should have with her grandmother. Miss you Vangie, but I know one day we'll meet again!

11. WHERE YOU ATE BREAKFAST

12. STAIRS
Basement stairs

13. SOMETHING YOU FOUND
I had been looking for this for a couple of weeks. I actually found it 2 days prior.

14. HOW YOU FEEL TODAY
We got some very exciting news regarding our financial future.

15. SUNSET
This was taken January 1, 2008 from our stateroom balcony on a cruise ship.

16. FLOWER
My sister-in-law planted these in our 'garden' and the blooms are beautiful.

17. SOMETHING YOU DON'T LIKE
I know it may seem silly, but I really don't like carpeted stairs. It is such a pain in the neck to vacuum, and shampooing them is even worse. Hopefully this will change soon!

18. HAIR
I just love those pretty curls!

19. ORANGE
Eva's Halloween bouncy ball

20. SOMETHING YOU DREW

Stay tuned for Part 3!

APRIL Photo-A-Day (Part 1)

I decided that for this month I will break the month
of photos up into 3 separate posts.

So this month will be April 1st to April 10th; next post April 11th to April 20th; and the last post will be April 21st to April 30th.

Enjoy these photos and stay tuned for
more in another several days.

These are just a few of the roses at one of our Metro Parks. And this pic doesn't

And it's nothing but junk

4. SOMEONE WHO MAKES YOU HAPPY

5. TINY
This little cup holds some strong Ethiopian coffee.

Happy Easter 2012!

This year, our Easter celebration was a bit more exciting than last year.  After eating breakfast, we all got ready for the 10:45 church service.
All this week, I had been talking to Eva about what this week means. We have a book about Jesus that she got for Christmas and she loves reading it. So we talked about Good Friday and how Jesus died on that day because He loves us so much. Then we talked to her about how Jesus fought the Devil and won on Saturday and went to Heaven today.
Last night John and I put Eva’s Easter eggs together for our family egg hunt. Last year we did the egg hunt in the house after her night-time bath. This year, we did the egg hunt once we got home from church and she was still in her pretty Easter dress.

I took her in the house and distracted her for a couple of minutes while John “hid” the eggs outside on the front lawn. As soon as I handed her the basket, she knew exactly what was going to happen and couldn’t get outside fast enough! It was just too cute seeing her gathering all her eggs....again J

After the egg hunt we all had lunch and Eva got to enjoy a couple of pieces of her yummy candy. So blessed to be able to spend another Easter with my wonderful husband and daughter!

Palm Sunday Egg Hunt

Today was a fun day at our church for all the kiddos in the community. Our church celebrated Easter today (Palm Sunday) with a special service for the children. There was singing, dancing, story telling, puppetry and videos. Eva had so much fun singing and clapping her hands to the music.

Right after that was the Easter Egg Hunt. I was so excited for Eva and her experience. It was such a beautiful day. Perfect for the egg hunt which was held outside. Our church also has a Christian school (K-12) attached to it, so the egg hunt was on the football field.

After the service, everyone went outside to the football field. The field was divided into 3 sections. Eva was in the 'Birth -2 yrs' section. This is what the field looked like when we got out there:

It looked like there were a billion little plastic eggs out there. Truly amazing. Just looking at that put a smile on my face. While we were waiting, we were all given instructions. Eva was chomping at the bit. She knew EXACTLY what was going on, what she needed to do, and didn't want to wait any longer. We counted the 10-second countdown, and then............the air horn sounded and we were off!

It was amazing how quickly those eggs got picked up. Before we knew it, we looked around and the field was totally clear of all those little plastic goodies. My camera was about to die ( I couldn't believe I forgot to charge the battery) so I was so glad to get this picture of us as soon as we were finished.

When we finally got home, all Eva wanted to do was play with her eggs....and count them. A grand total of 30 eggs in just a couple of minutes. You go girl!!

Finally, you have to see her outfit. One of her aunts, John's older sister, got her 3 gorgeous dresses at my baby shower (over a year ago) and I've just been waiting until I could put her in one of them. I LOVE the dresses and Eva does too. She loves twirling around in them. The darling sandals are a present from her godparents. She adores them and was so excited to wear her sandals too! Such a girly girl :-)
